I do not have much experience with PIC programming, but I understand that the error is occurring on the very first line of my hex file, and I think 3FFF means "blank".
I was able to successfully write to 2 different PIC chips that did not require UV erasing, but I am not sure how to resolve this error.
A hardware test in WinPic shows that my hardware is connected ok.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

can check the voltage in the socket, there is a hardware configuration for each signal check. regards

I'm sorry but my PIC programming experience is quite limited, do you mean to check the voltage in the 40pin ZIF? What kind of voltage should I be looking for?
